Email: Vudu Rebranding to Fandango At Home

Video-on-demand platform set for rebranding later this year.

Vudu, originally known as a device for movie purchases, has transformed into a comprehensive streaming service and digital movie repository over the years. Acquired by Fandango Media in 2020, it’s now poised for yet another transformation.

In a recent announcement, the company revealed its plans to rebrand as “Fandango At Home.” Subscribers need not fret, as their existing digital libraries and purchases will seamlessly transition — a rare assurance in such mergers. Subscribers were reassured via email that this shift “won’t impact your streaming experience, leaving your library intact.”

This isn’t the first time Fandango has made such a move. Three years ago, it phased out its FandangoNOW service, replacing it with Vudu while maintaining users’ digital collections. While a concrete timeline for integration hasn’t been disclosed, indications suggest it could occur within the coming months.

Fandango Media’s portfolio extends beyond Vudu and includes Rotten Tomatoes, acquired from Time Warner, as well as the now-defunct Flixster and UltraViolet, shuttered in 2019.
