Dame Dash Reflects on Final Conversation with Irv Gotti: ‘I Don’t Want to See You Die’
Despite Strained Relationship, Dash Reached Out to Support Gotti Amid Health Struggle

Dame Dash recently opened up about his final conversation with hip-hop mogul Irv Gotti, who passed away earlier this month. On his America Nu Network YouTube channel, the Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder shared a heartfelt text he sent to Gotti after learning about his health issues. “Regardless of what our relationship was at that moment, we were brothers,” Dash said. “We’ve known each other for almost 30 years.” The message read: “Irv, regardless of anything, we’re brothers, and I don’t want to see you die.” Despite their strained relationship in recent years, Dash emphasized the bond they shared. Gotti’s response was hopeful: “
Yo, I’m getting better, Dame!” Dash reflected on the exchange, saying, “I looked at the text today and reminded myself: ‘Let me know if there’s anything I can do to help.’” He also expressed regret for not being more involved in Gotti’s life, stating he would have encouraged healthier habits. Dash lamented the tragic nature of Gotti’s passing, particularly its connection to lifestyle choices. “To die over food—it doesn’t make sense,” he said. “Food isn’t worth leaving this world over, especially when your family is left behind.” Dash’s candid reflection highlights the enduring respect and brotherhood between the two hip-hop icons, even amid their differences.
