Federal Employees Urged to Quit After DC Plane Crash

Controversial Email Sent to FAA Workers Sparks Outrage

Just hours after a devastating plane crash in Washington, D.C., federal employees, including those at the FAA, received an email from the Office of Personnel Management encouraging them to seek jobs in the private sector. The message, sent late Thursday, emphasized "greater American prosperity" through reducing public-sector roles.

The timing of the email, coming just after an American Airlines plane collided with a Black Hawk helicopter—killing 67 people—raised eyebrows, especially among FAA employees. Reports indicate only one air traffic controller was on duty during the crash, a potential consequence of staffing cutbacks.

Adding to the controversy, the White House is reportedly offering buyouts to federal workers unwilling to return to office. Employees across multiple agencies, including Homeland Security and the CDC, received similar messages. The FAA has yet to comment on the situation.
