Reports indicate only one air traffic controller was on duty during the crash, a potential consequence of staffing cutbacks.

Adding to the controversy, the White House is reportedly offering buyouts to federal workers unwilling to return to office. Employees across multiple agencies, including Homeland Security and the CDC, received similar messages. The FAA has yet to comment on the situation.
