"Friday night, I got an email on my work phone," he recalled. "It said 'White House notification,' and I knew that can’t be good." The brief, two-sentence email cited “changing priorities” as the reason for his immediate dismissal. Greenblatt wasn’t alone—inspectors general from multiple agencies, including the Defense, State, and Energy Departments, were also ousted late Friday.

The sweeping firings echoed past "Friday-night massacres" under Trump’s first administration.
