Instagram Supercharges DMs with Music Sharing, Message Scheduling & More

Instagram is taking its direct messages (DMs) to the next level with a fresh batch of upgrades, making the platform even more competitive against Apple’s iMessage and other third-party chat apps. Users worldwide will now be able to translate messages in 99 languages, schedule and pin chats, share music directly in DMs, and more. These features are rolling out today for iOS and Android, with web access coming later. Among the standout additions is the ability to share 30-second music previews from Instagram’s library in group chats or broadcast channels, making music discovery more social than ever.

Artists like JENNIE and Doechii are already testing the feature with their fans. Other new tools include message scheduling—allowing users to set messages to send up to 29 days in advance—and the ability to pin up to three messages per chat for easy access. Additionally, Instagram is introducing QR code invites for group chats, simplifying the process of bringing new friends into conversations. These upgrades position Instagram as a stronger messaging platform, blending social networking with seamless communication.
