Morphing Meerkat: The Email Phishing Kit That Adapts to You

New PhaaS Platform Targets 114 Brands Using DNS Records

A new phishing-as-a-service (PhaaS) platform, dubbed Morphing Meerkat, is making waves by using DNS mail exchange (MX) records to dynamically generate fake login pages for major email providers like Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo. Cybersecurity firm Infoblox reports that this sophisticated phishing kit exploits adtech redirects, compromised domains, and Cloudflare R2 hosting to deliver thousands of phishing emails. Victims are lured through links that lead to authentic-looking login pages designed to steal credentials and exfiltrate them via Telegram.

What sets Morphing Meerkat apart is its ability to analyze MX records and tailor phishing pages to match the victim’s email service provider, making the scam feel seamless. The phishing pages also employ obfuscation, anti-analysis measures, and multilingual support to expand their reach worldwide. As the campaign continues to evolve, businesses and individuals must stay vigilant against increasingly adaptive email phishing threats.
