Outlook Bug Sparks Security Warning

400M users at risk via email

Microsoft’s Outlook users—over 400 million strong—are being urged to exercise caution following the discovery of a critical email vulnerability. A researcher at SolidLab, Vsevolod Kokorin, revealed the flaw on X, showing how attackers could spoof accounts to send deceptive emails. In a demonstration, Kokorin even impersonated Microsoft's own security email account, raising serious concerns about the platform's reliability for both personal and business communications.

Microsoft initially dismissed Kokorin’s findings, claiming they couldn’t replicate the issue. However, after his public demonstration on X, the company reopened his report. While Kokorin has refrained from sharing exploit details, he warns users to scrutinize incoming emails and avoid suspicious links. This flaw adds pressure on Microsoft, which recently pledged to prioritize security under CEO Satya Nadella’s leadership. As Outlook remains the top choice for businesses worldwide, this revelation has sparked widespread unease. Users are advised to remain vigilant until Microsoft addresses the issue publicly and provides a fix. Reference: Read more on MSN
